Here’s What People Are Saying About AutoCAD…
“We tried using 2D drafting software before Autodesk released AutoCAD, and we ended up redesigning the drawings in a software called CADWorx. We have since adopted AutoCAD as the standard for our company.” – Ryan H.
“For our company, it’s difficult to imagine using another software in our daily work. I can tell you that our company has reduced development costs and increased the quality of our drawings and products.” – Robert P.
“When my son, Wayne, was in the eighth grade, he asked me for a job to help with his math homework. I gave him a list of items and told him to take a look at it and tell me how much it would cost. He came up with a cost that was pretty close, but it was well over the amount I told him to spend. I asked him why, and he told me that he had used AutoCAD to do the calculations. I was impressed with his method.” – Robert S.
“I am a landscape architect, and I use AutoCAD. My first experience with AutoCAD was in the early 90’s. It was the only CAD program I used. It was slow and hard to learn. I got over that and found it useful. I use it for my landscape architecture and engineering drawings. I use it because I am an engineer and architect by trade. It is the same for me as a carpenter. I use it as the primary method to work on my projects. I started using it over 20 years ago and it has changed a lot. We still use it because it is the best tool for the job at hand.” – Robert A.
“I have been using AutoCAD since 1990. I find that the program is flexible and functional, and it’s easy to use. The basic drawing functions are easy to learn, and I have used them to do simple architectural drawings. However, I have mostly used them to draft simple drawings for architectural plans and the building process. I like the drawing feature of the program very much. I like the program to view the finished drawings in various ways. I also like that I can easily find all of the information that I need to know in the program. In the past, I found that I had to work harder and search more to find information that I needed. The program is very user friendly. It is a little slower than some of the

New features in 2010
AutoCAD 2010 introduced a number of features that were previously unavailable, including “auto” features for adding, editing, deleting and linking objects, as well as a “categories and orders” feature. The toolbars are now more customizable. The Environment/Preferences sub-menu is renamed to Preferences/Options. New features in the 3D portion of the product include enhanced surface analysis. The method of storing drawings was changed to a more natural CAD-oriented hierarchy. Content Database was added as a database application extension. Third-party Applications were added that connect to the Content Database to import/export content to the drawing and drawings to the Content Database.
The 2010 release also marks a few major changes to the user interface. The ribbon toolbars and palette have been redesigned. The ribbon now displays the tabs based on the application and object type. The Toolbars and palette, representing the object’s properties are now contained in the relevant tab. The document tree was given a graphic treatment.
AutoCAD is powered by the proprietary AutoCAD engine.
This is a graphically-intensive, general-purpose geometry engine. It implements nearly all the functionality that is available to the user, and works on 2D and 3D models. It includes all of the standard CAD drawing commands, with many additional features. For example, it is capable of producing free-hand and scripted edit paths, as well as generating spline, polyline, and polycurve features. The default solver is based on Cgal, a 2D general-purpose solver, and includes a limited solver support for splines. The rendering engine supports 2D, 3D and 3D-2D rendering, allowing the user to work on large 2D projects. The native format is also Postscript, but the engine can read and write native file formats and import/export to a variety of formats.
New features in 2009
2009 brought AutoCAD full-fledged 3D capability. The 3D engine can now import and export 3D models. There is a new 3D modeling application, called “SketchUp,” which is an online 3D modeling and collaboration platform for free and paid members. AutoCAD 2010 introduced object-oriented tools and workflow with “objects”, a term used to represent both 2D and 3D
